Today I received an e-mail copy of the Style Weekly article from my nephew Sean Bowers III entitled "Wilder's New Rival?" (News & Features, Feb. 14). I must say that this was a wonderful article concerning my brother-in-law Al Bowers Jr.
As long as I've known my brother, he has always spoken his mind and meant what he said. What I love most about Al is his love for my sister, Marva Jean, his children and his desire for helping anyone who is in need.
I'm very proud of him for standing up for what he believes to be right. Any and all goals set by him, he usually accomplishes. Should he decide to run for public office, there is not a doubt in my mind the city of Richmond would be receiving a great asset from the leadership ability of Al Bowers Jr.
Richmond should take the time to look a little deeper when borrowing from other cities. Claims made by proponents of new ballparks usually are overstated.
