Child prodigies are overrated. When you find yourself reaching your full artistic or intellectual potential before you hit puberty, it's a little depressing to think that for the remaining 60 to 70 years of your life you may never achieve that same high point or satisfaction as when you were too young to fully appreciate it — or to keep from wetting the bed over it. Art 180 is interested nurturing youngsters' aesthetic abilities for a lifetime of expression. With this in mind, the Richmond organization celebrates the creativity of the city's artistic long haulers with “The Big Show,” an exhibition of multimedia and performance art by area youth organizations and schools, featuring demonstrations in film, music, dance, writing, visual art and cooking. Encouraging creative growth, the show begins Wednesday, May 20, at 6 p.m. at Plant Zero. Free. 0 E. Fourth St. 233-4180. — Mike Hilleary
