Appreciating the “Vicarious Buzz”

To Jack Lauterback, I truly enjoy your Punch Drunk column. While I still get in some quality drinking, as a 45-year-old dad, much of my consumption involves a couple of decent beers on a Friday to numb the constant brain rattle caused by two small kids. So I appreciate the vicarious buzz of recklessness that I get from reading your stuff. I was taken aback when I finally read the blurb on the bottom about your role as morning co-host on 103.7 The River. While I believe that you would on occasion still be up at 6 a.m., I am dubious that you would continue to be up until 9. Clearly you send a body double to do this radio show, likely the same guy who took your SAT for you. (I just read your "Reader Mailbag"; the acerbic tone just rubs off.)
