Anthem Moonlight Ride

Saturday, Aug. 21

Traveling by bike in a city inherently comes with risks. Navigating streets full of high-speed machines capable of insectlike squashability is difficult enough during the day. It gets even worse once the sun goes down, with reflectors and strobe-light flashes providing drivers with proof of your roadside existence. Looking to provide local Richmonders with some extracurricular relief, Anthem presents its second annual Moonlight Ride, a 17-mile (and 8-mile for the less ambitious) loop of sunless cycling along Hermitage Road and Monument Avenue. Featuring prizes for the best decorative lights and costumes, and concluding with a free concert, complementary Blue Moon beer and food vendors, the summer race kicks off at 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 21, at Sports Backers Stadium. $10-$35.
