Andrew Slater, 15

Home-schooled

The Royal Rangers (a ministry organization of the Assemblies of God that is similar to the Boy Scouts) have played a significant role in Andrew's life. In 2004, he earned his Gold Medal of Achievement, its highest rank. "It's an accomplishment that took years of commitment," Andrew says.

Andrew is also a lifeguard at Antioch Recreation Association and swims for the Chickahominy Twisters, the Antioch Recreation Association and the Greater Richmond Aquatic League.
