Anderson’s New Vistas

Thank you for publishing a review of the current exhibition at Artspace. I attended the artists' reception and found the exhibition to be of very high caliber. I do take issue with some of the reviewer's observations, particularly those about the works of Libby Anderson, whose work I have been familiar with for 30 years. Anderson is a consummate, skilled artist who works on a piece until it meets her exacting specifications. Her chosen medium of pastel is notably unforgiving, yet she has mastered the application with confidence and self-assurance. My understanding of the description in her artist's statement is that her study of guitar opened new vistas in which she combined the making of music and the making of art into an entirely new inspiration and expression. Please continue to review exhibitions in art-rich Richmond.
