Anchor Strikes Back

Brendan M. Mahoney's letter (“Mixed Feelings about Gene Cox; Hi-Def Gets Credit,” March 31) criticizes Channel 12 News and me in particular. That's cool … but I wonder that Brendan finds no problem with his claim that when he watches “other local newscasts on occasion they consistently outperform NBC-12 ....” How can one find “consistency on occasion?” Perhaps we can hire Brendan to proofread our copy. As for the hi-def argument, absolutely; it helps us. Our picture is better than theirs. But Mr. Mahoney discounts that Channel-12 News was No. 1 long before hi-def came along.
