Anberlin at the National

Friday, Jan. 14

With its 2002 debut “Blueprints for the Black Market” landing it a stint of supporting slots with the likes of Fall Out Boy and Story of the Year, Florida-based Anberlin cemented its place among the pop-punk rockers skilled in slick production and big hooks. With the band's latest record, “Dark Is the Way, Light Is a Place,” the emo-spirited quintet finds itself embracing a more expansive, anthem-calling bit of territory, capturing some surprisingly well-crafted U2 moments that place a smart level of emphasis on the soaring vocals of frontman Stephen Christian. Co-headlining with Circa Survive, Anberlin is scheduled to perform at the National on Friday, Jan. 14, at 7 p.m. $19-$23.
