Immediately recognizable with his thick, greasepaint mustache and eyebrows, eyeglasses and cigar, Julius Henry “Groucho” Marx is regarded as one of the funniest comedians of the past century. While earning equal admiration alongside his brothers Chico and Harpo, Groucho was the quick-witted, rapid-fire anchor of the troupe, delivering the kind of one-liners and double-entendres that had audiences struggling to keep up with his jokes. Honoring the mastermind behind such great films as “Duck Soup” and “A Night at the Opera,” award-winning actor, director and playwright Frank Ferrante recreates his PBS-, New York- and London-acclaimed portrayal of the iconic funnyman in “An Evening With Groucho.” The two-act comedy showcases the best of the comedian's famous quips, anecdotes and songs. Ferrante reveals “the secret word” at the Cultural Center at Glen Allen on Saturday, Jan. 15, at 7 p.m. $35. 261-2787.
