Even with the religious connotations normally associated with it, the notion of one's soul is a complicated cocktail of inner understanding. Contemplating the soul of an entire culture can be even more daunting. Doing the best interpretation it can, the Latin Ballet of Virginia presents “Alma Latina,” a globe-spanning production celebrating the history of Latin America's rhythm, music and dance influences. Intermingling salsa, mambo, tango, flamenco and reggae, and honoring the stylistic traditions left by such great artists as Tito Puente, Bob Marley and Paco de Lucia, the dance company takes a classical and modern look at its diverse culture. The Latin Ballet of Virginia performs “Alma Latina,” at the Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 22, with additional performances on Oct. 23 at 7:30 p.m. and Oct. 24 at 3 p.m. $15-$20.
