There are more than 31.5 million seconds in a year, time for our eyes to capture an immense number of images. Some of them are fleeting; others stay with us, burned into our minds' eyes as moments that mattered. We asked photojournalist Scott Elmquist to share some of those moments, as captured through his lens in 2009, and to tell us the story behind the photograph.
