No movie at the Byrd Theatre is complete without hearing the Wurlitzer organ. For “A Night With the Mighty Wurlitzer,” the Byrd brings back world-renowned organist Cameron Carpenter to play original pieces as well as classical and contemporary pop selections. Don’t expect a church-service sound; Carpenter’s known to take dramatic liberties with the composers’ works and represent them in his own style. Proceeds go to the Byrd Theatre Foundation, which works to restore and preserve the historic institution. “A Night With the Mighty Wurlitzer” with Cameron Carpenter takes place at the Byrd Theatre on Saturday, Oct. 20, at 8 p.m. $15-$75. byrdtheatrefoundation.org.
