Let's be honest here. I've seen in West Virginia where tops of mountains have been cut off for wind energy, Natural gas doesn't create any greenhouse gasses and the comment on killing coal miners is plain crap, look at safety records for other industries and i'll bet coal mining is one of the safest.

Dominion and state regulators (SCC) will finger-point to each other as been the foot-draggers on VA's offshore wind development. But BOEM can cut them both off at the get-go but instituting a process that prevents the foot-dragging in the first place.

      http://www.renewableenergyworld.com/rea/news/article/2013/02/cape-wind-regulation-litigation-and-the-struggle-to-develop-offshore-wind-power-in-the-u-s

Some excerpts from the above link:

Today, there are more than 1,600 offshore wind turbines at 55 different facilities and representing more than 3,800 megawatts of capacity connected to the European grid, according to the European Wind Energy Association. China, a gluttonous consumer of coal-fired electricity, nonetheless has at least one commercial-scale offshore wind farm of its own, and several more are in the works.

There are still no offshore wind farms in the United States.

To supporters of renewable energy, this is inexplicable, particularly given the imperatives of climate change and the comparative social advantages of clean power....
