While there are admittedly a good number of american lagers out there...something is missing. There has to be some reason i always have to default to Bitburger when i want a good reasonably priced lager.

There's plenty of craft lagers out there if you want them, and there's also plenty of other styles that aren't hop bombs or high ABV. The fact is that the craft industries primary market base is not light lager drinkers, so it isn't the majority of the product they put in the market.

Gotta agree with Helles to an extent..bring on the subtle everyday beers that the Europeans have made famous. I too have grown tired of hop bombs america is putting out there.

What "intrigues" me is why it is so difficult for American small breweries to make a normal brew that won't strip the enamel off your teeth with hop bitterness, get you drunk at first sight from outrageous gravity, or have some goofy flavor like "candied lemongrass" or "Doughnut Chocolate, Peanut Butter & Banana." Why do all their beers have to be these crazy science projects it (apparently) takes a PhD to think up?
