      <![CDATA[The battle was Monte Cassino, which was a mountain which blocked the path to Rome. The allies tried taking this mountain stronghold for months, but it was Polish troops which finally did so and raised the Polish flag as soon as they did.

      <![CDATA[What the actor should get his head into is the anti Polish sentiment of US leftist intellectuals, especially those who were US Communist party members or sympathizers, who used their art to foster anti-Polish sentiment which played into diminishing support for a Poland under attack, or occupied by the communist mother ship - The Soviet Union. He might want to read "Hollywood's War with Poland" by Biskupski which showed how Hollywood Communists changed scripts, worked with Soviet advisers, and changed positive Polish characters into negative ones, or completely eliminated positive Polish characters.
