Nobody makes anything in Richmond.
Nobody sells anything to make anything in Richmond.
No parts, no materials, no machines, no services.
Nobody trains people how to make anything in Richmond.
No one to hire to make anything in Richmond.

A bit harsh, it's not really nobody, it's very very few.
Turbines are a start.

Bootstrapping is tough.

When I moved to Richmond twelve years ago, I started hearing one sentence repeated over and over again in business-development and technology circles: "But no one makes anything in Richmond." I heard it used consistently as an apologia at the tag end of conversations on venture capital, or engineering education, or economic development.
