Don, I agree these things are subjective and I know I'm a Philistine for disparaging modernist architecture but I maintain it's a bunch of malarkey. It's metaphysical gibberish that's supposed to make Holl seem like a supernatural being because this brand of architecture is all about puffing up the huge egos of the star-architects.
The "forking"refers to two things, according to Holl. First, the divergent nature of contemporary art which branches of into many directions and movements simultaneously, like a fork in the road.

I love the concept, and it will be beautiful to pass by, but, this is a scary location for this museum. When the sun sets, it resembles a nighttime scene from "The Walking Dead."
This will scare many potential people away from evening events unless it is treated as a fortress, which could also be unappealing.

The truth is this building, like all starchitecture stunts, makes no sense and therefore any goofy story line can be attached to it. First of all, WTF is "galleries in forking time," that doesn't mean anything.
