      <![CDATA[Before you rush to prohibit windowless apartments, remember low income renters, overwhelmingly people of color, need a place to live too. If you deny developers the ability to construct affordable housing just because it does not fit in with the traditional judeo-christian white conception of what housing should be, you risk destroying the diversity of richmond, which is our city's greatest strength.

      <![CDATA[The current building code allows windowless apartments since the buildings have fire sprinkler systems. The approval by the planning commission is usually required because these empty warehouses are zoned for light industrial uses and does not allow housing.

      <![CDATA[Never mind mental health - how is someone in a windowless apartment going to get out if there's a fire? I know I can't finish the basement in my house as living space without modifying the windows that are there, so how does this meet code?
