I want a stat of how many people cross that section of Broad Street per day--it would be a very low number. While I agree that stop lights allow for more pedestrian safety, i.e. crosswalks, I drive this section of Broad daily and live just a few blocks away.

Fewer stop lights mean more pedestrian deaths -- every, single, time.

But, hell... if it's good for business and means less distraction for drivers speeding on their cell phones... then what are a few more dead poor people? Right?

:/

The change is fine but the REAL change will come when Richmond (which is always 20 yrs behind the rest of the country) decides to begin installing the black (or dark) cased traffic lights that have been instituted in all 50 states in cities large and small. Come on Richmond, these lights are safer, cost no more, and reflect the sunlights glare, and look better so why don't we have them?
