      <![CDATA[As an avid cyclist who has lived in a very bike-friendly city before moving to Richmond- I can tell you one major reason cyclists don't adhere to traffic regulations is because the roads here are clearly not meant to accomodate them. Riding a bike on Richmond area streets is like trying to drive your car on the sidewalk- none of the stop lights can sense you, none of the roads are wide enough, there's no lane for you, so what do you do?

      <![CDATA[The path towards Richmond becoming a more bicycle-friendly city will require radical change in the attitudes and awareness of bicyclists, as well. If we are to share the roads, cyclists will have to learn to adhere to traffic regulations and keep in mind that they are generally traveling slower than vehicular traffic and therefore might want to choose their routes and position on the roads with care.
