      <![CDATA[Here's the biggest eyesore in Richmond--Broad Street. Nothing says urban decrepitude like that 10-mile stretch of vacant buildings, bums and dumpy businesses.

      <![CDATA[I couldn't agree more, especially with the last one by the Carpenter Center, over which the city actually does have control. In my view, though, there are more than enough opportunities for retail etc. in the vacant storefronts just west of there and on Grace Street.

      <![CDATA[There is a historical precedent for this custom of demolishing important buildings and leaving a blank spot in its place. There was the wonderful City Hall that Robert Mills designed in 1814 and was torn down in 1873 because everybody got scared when the room in the Capitol collapsed.

      <![CDATA[We were visiting during this event and couldnt help but notice all of the wheelchair participants struggling to get around on the sidewalks. we thought richmond was very nice and clean but very empty.
