Someone just told me that I needed to look at these comments. I just want to clear up one matter by a posting mentioned above: Henley Street Theatre did not lose money on The Winter's Tale or The Liar.

Between the construction, operating subsidies, and interest, the complex received over $75 million taxpayer dollars. Whoever is really in charge has an obligation to the community to provide affordable access to the local groups.

      Jerry,

Damages from Center Stage:

A meals tax increase that continues to hinder local business and effect Richmond diners, including poorer people who may just want to purchase something as simple as a sandwich.

A division and distrust between art and cultural groups, some of which feel bullied and betrayed, and some that feel even more marginalized. This was in the background of every single 'art district' discussion for the last ten years.

A 'doubling down' effect with further public investment in private projects like the Hippodrone, with no return on investment in sight.
