Of course, I am in overall agreement with my friend Don Harrison's latest editorial, though I will make two exceptions-

One is that back when Don and I were doing our best to lobby against the crooked Center Stage deal and the meals tax increase, many 'creatives' were too scared of the 'corporates' to say anything- and so today the Center Stage craziness goes on. Sadly, the 'creatives' lost influence for not doing more previously during this pivotal debate.

Secondly, while the current noise ordinance may not be perfect, it is very much necessary and has been requested by longtime Richmond citizens and neighbors.

@Former ad guy Obviously you say thatwith humor, but really the argument is not who won or lost but rather substantial evidence that there may have been misconduct in the process (again).

If your ad firm (former ad firm I guess) lost out the bid, were confident it was at least competitive, and then learned of all the coziness between the person leading the RFP and the winner, and that fact that that person has been investigated in the past, would you want to look under the hood a little bit?

In "looking under the hood", a local firm must be savvy and careful for fear of being blacklisted for future work or possibly mistreated with some City regulation, license, or what have you (no, not the City of Richmond!). You see?

I'm a Richmonder through and through, but I will defend Boulder to the end. It's much smaller than RVA but has a far more diverse range of job opportunities and a much stronger "creative community."

1. When a Richmond agency wins out-of-town business, do they turn it down because "there must be a better local alternative?"
