<![CDATA[I've been to 5 plays over 5 years and Lear was good, not as good as Merchant of Venice. I heard a review on WCVE radio that pumped LEAR as a once in a lifetime production - and it wasn't.

<![CDATA[I may (actually I do) pretty much completely disagree with the bulk of the opinions in this review. However, I do greatly respect how thoughtful and supported those opinions are.

<![CDATA[I was blown away and encouraged by the first Richmond Shakespeare Festival production of the summer (KING LEAR) but underwhelmed and disappointed by the current offering (TWO GENTS). I couldn't believe the two works were produced by the same company; the obvious dramaturgical work, keen attention to text, detail and vocal delivery, expert direction and uniformly outstanding performances of the first were absent in the later.

<![CDATA[It is important to remember that in journalistic criticism of the theatre, that a "review" is only one person's opinion. It is not fact, it is an opinion which emanates we hope from a point of view and may be informed by nothing more than another person's opinion and may be affected by what the "critic" ate, who she argued with earlier in the day or what time he has to get up tomorrow.
