<![CDATA[The market won't thrive because no investor can make money off it. The city should lease the space to one of the groups that run the highly successful farmers' markets in town (for $1/year) and let them run it.

<![CDATA[All the local farmers and food producers who made the Thurdsay market so successful a coupleof years ago abandoned the Market because the customers weren't there. Part of the problem was the time - it closed at mid-day instead of opening at 3 and closing after folks left work ( what could be better than leaving work Downtown and grabbing fresh veggies, fruit, meat, flowers and baked goodies as you're going to your car anyway?).

The success of other area farmers markets has as much to do with product (fresh, mostly organic local produce) as it does convenient location for where the majority of Richmonders live.
