Re: “SATs, SOLs -- Which are More Misleading in Richmond?”
I have tried to work "with" RPS as a parent (of 5) and can tell you that school administrators talk a fine game about wanting parental involvement, but when it gets right down to it -- they don't. Fuggitabout it!

The two absolutely wildly differing opinions expressed above are indicative of the problems that those working for true reform in the schools encounter.

One one hand, you have the apologists such as "Forest for the Trees" who are so blind that they attempt to downplay any and all and criticism of RPS that comes along -- whether it involves cheating on SOLS/SATS, the outright theft and waste of public money, stealing the futures of our children, crushing the souls of the good teachers and cradling the incompetence of the bad.

And, you have the "Mad As Hell Not Takin' it" people who are so blinded with rage that they become frustrated and hyperbolic in their rhetoric that they use the buzzwords and gross generalizations that make it easy for those in power not to listen.

Glad to see Carol Wolf quoted.

I find the whole thing very confusing. Is it that "high performing" kids go to MWGS and their test scores are being factored in to the scores from their "home school," therefore inflating the test scores for that possibly not-so-good school?
