<![CDATA[I do appreciate all the support, but a few factual corrections are in order. The cine club wasn't started with any of the students in my classes; it came about solely through the instigation of my colleague in the art history department, Victoria Holly Frances Scott, and other faculty members at VCU and elsewhere (including William & Mary) have been as active as several students, many of whom don't take any of my classes....Much less important, though worth noting: the new version of "Touch of Evil" that I consulted on WASN'T a restoration (and couldn't have been, because you can't restore something that Welles was never allowed to finish); I never saw "Citizen Kane" in any of my family's theaters in Alabama; and I couldn't have included "A.I. Artificial Intelligence" in my 1998 response to the AFI's list of the 100 best American movies, because that film wasn't released until three years later.
