I can't believe that people still allow themselves to be hoodwinked by these type of high-profile-small consequence issues. Flag burning, the NEA, gay marriage, PBS funding... they all act as a smokescreen for more lecherous activities.

If PBS provides such essential schooling for our kids, and it probably does, then let's take an equal amount from the defense budget and fully fund PBS. That makes perfect sense to me. Instead of paying for redundant foreign wars, violence, nuclear weapons, and the like in administration, let's use that same money to fully fund this important educational resource.

With all due respect to the Senator, the PBS he watched with his youngsters many years ago, has been eclipsed by a range of channels that are available on basic cable, which over two thirds of this nation has..

Channels like Discovery, History, Learning, Disney,A&E, House and Garden, Food, DYI, Sundance, IFC, BBC America and many more offer something for all tastes. The City of Richmond, and the Richmond Public Schools each have their own free public channels.
