      <![CDATA[Stephanie, you should read Sven Birkerts' book The Gutenberg Elegies.<br><br>It got me thinking along these lines in the early 90s. Birkerts has since become a somewhat reluctant user of the Internet, but at least he called us to be critical users, not mere consumers.

      <![CDATA[I felt Joe Essid to be a kindred spirit in the "Beyond the Margins" Back Page article from March 2nd. Adeptly referring (methinks) to the profit margins that now threaten an old cultural pastime, he almost made me cry!
