We are writing to you about an article in this week's Style Weekly that is critical of how the VCU Health System manages medical care for indigent patients. The publication took a complicated issue and handled it superficially, anecdotally and in some cases, inaccurately.

Style Weekly mistakenly characterized funding that the VCU Health System receives from state and federal sources for indigent care as a pool of money from which we distribute as we see fit.
