      <![CDATA[Some "inconvenient truths."<br><br>1) Oil has very little to do with electricity because almost all electric power comes from coal, water and nuclear. About 70 percent of all oil becomes auto fuel and, with the exception of asphalt and some kerosene, it is primarily transportation fuel.<br>2) There are a variety of "externalities" (costs NOT paid by the polluter) of our driving which are difficult to evaluate but work from Milton Couplus indicates that to cover the costs of lost economic opportunity and keeping aircraft carriers in the Persian Gulf, we should be paying an additional $10.02 per gallon in corrective taxes.
