Curated Culture is a non-profit with their own overhead costs and a mission of promoting the downtown First Friday arts. If the $50,000 were available tomorrow, how should/would Curated Culture use these funds to additionally promote and market these participating businesses?

      Geezer.
To continue with what I lacked the time to say this morning-
By claiming that First Fridays doesn't happen downtown Mr. R seeks to establish a distinction recognized by neither the general public nor First Fridays itself. (I would refer you again to the official website which clearly states that First Fridays is a Downtown cultural program.)

Let's take a closer look...The unofficial Midtown Arts District, with virtually no funding from the City other than a few thousand dollars to Curated Culture over the past 8 years, now can boast the best art galleries, some of the finest restaurants, great interior design retail stores, a wonderful coffee shop, luxurious condos and trendy apartments...ALL thanks to the ever-growing and dynamic, but struggling, art galleries. Now let's take a look at what literally hundreds of millions of dollars in taxpayer and corporate money has brought to Downtown Richmond.

I find it funny that many of these "artists" left leaning types love to protest big evil corporations for not following to the letter of the law regarding environmental regulations, civil rights, etc...yet when the same stringent application of the law and regulations are put onto them, we get a bunch of belly aching such as we see here......

Chris, some of us cannot afford to stay, but can also not afford to leave.

Without city support, First Friday will fail. Many people want to point the finger at Centerstage and blame them for all of these problems, and they (CS) I truly feel realize that this is the impressions of many people (including me much of the time) Despite that fact, we cannot blame all of our problems on their organization, most should be blamed on the ignorance of our city leaders.

In regards to Centerstage and our city elite:

"True generativity is rooted in our involvement in the larger society, not merely in our own personal sphere of influence. When our desire to make a difference in our world comes from the inside out and is not relied on for identity, power, and wealth but rather is charaterized by traits such as authenticity, self-authority, and personal passion, it is more significant.
