      <![CDATA[VCU, I could discuss the factual statements you made, some of which I think are arguably inaccurate, but they are also somewhat beside the point. Theatre is necessarily subjective, and what one likes and is willing to pay for is different for all.

      <![CDATA[So the only difference between Richmond's theater and NY, Chicago, DC, or even Fordsville, FL, is expectations are lower? Richmond has never had a famous director come to work, never had a famous actor come to work, does not or cannot support a major theater, has no major training programs (this is coming from a VCU alum), has never sent a show to NY, nobody outside of Richmond pays attention to it, and on and on.

      <![CDATA[VCU, a Coke is fungible  it is the same whereever you buy it (I would hope), so I don't understand the comparison. I imagine you are right that overhead/rent is more expensive in bigger towns, but by the same token, Government subsidies, corporate giving and grants are also higher.
