@Matt
Your logic is a little off base. First of all the neighborhoods found in Short Pump do not displace lower income people, but they do destroy natural habitats, and have replaced small farms in Virginia.

      Why is it that when an outsider buy a house in a rundown city neighborhood and fixes it up nicely, it's "gentrification" and a bad thing, but when a person buys a new house in an income-segregated neighborhood in Short Pump, no one says a word? Seems to me that if more affordable housing was spread across the region, we could improve city neighborhoods without decreasing the overall supply, and no one would be left without a place to go.

      Aside from any conspiracy pertaining to the Reverend, I believe there is still reason to be skeptical. We should be asking ourselves why the city doesn't take certain precautions at keeping the negative effects of redevelopment, revitalization, and gentrification at bay.
