<![CDATA[All these rich muckety-mucks who want their fancy opera house are also the same people who subjected the city to four years of Doug Wilder. When Doug wouldn't play the willing puppet to their puppeteer position, they locked onto Dwight.

<![CDATA[Hate to say it, but Center Stage is NOT the arts. It's a building, designed by non-artists (no matter what the Foundation claims), intended to revitalize downtown.

<![CDATA[Yeah, but my point remains, Center Stage took off with the City's public arts budget. Taxpayers have other, more vital budget items to pay for.

<![CDATA[Ha, let me know wha tthe ROI on Center Stage is. So far it is very, very negative, while our schools and parks deal with budget cuts.

<![CDATA[Actually, the community CAN afford arts funding, since the return on investment is unmatched by almost any other industry. As a not insignificant sidenote, the Commonwealth ought to do more, too the NY Times today has an article about Michigan's incentives to film producers to make their films in Michigan, and last year had over 20 films shot there.

<![CDATA[As much as I support Don and SaveRichmond.com, I am not sure if the City can really afford more public arts spending since Center Stage (and now Shockoe Stadium stupidity) burned holes in the City's budget.
