      <![CDATA[Was the RPS School Board or the City of Richmond responsible for building the three "new" schools 10 years ago? <br><br>These schools, Holton, Miles Jones and Blackwell, have all had roofs that have leaked in all the same places and have for the past TEN YEARS!

      <![CDATA[Holton Parent, sorry for the confusion, you are correct in that I do not know what all of RPS schools look like, but the ones I am familiar with  are mostly  old flat roofs. If the newer buildings without flat roofs leak as you say, they were probably not installed/designed correctly, but in any event, they should still be under warrantee.

      <![CDATA[Don Cowles, Tom Farrell and Jim Ukrop managed to get the money they wanted for CenterStage and now Richmonders are reduced to fighting each other for precious school dollars to build a couple of schools and leave the rest of the buildings not even ADA compliant. Cowles does a great job of keeping all the school board people "clicking" along with with the fatcats want.

      <![CDATA[The surrounding county school buildings are by far superior to those in the city because the tax paying parents in the counties demand the counties provide construction and maintenance funding in their budgets. The way that people are heard is by casting their votes at election time for those candidates they believe will put the kids first.

      <![CDATA[This money belongs to the PEOPLE of the City of Richmond, regardless of the whether the line item is from the City side of the ledger or the school side of the ledger. The money is all TAX money or money that will be paid back out of TAX money.<br><br>I honestly don't think the School Board is capable of running this show and I don't trust the Mayor and his minions to do the right thing either, considering comments that have been made about how the city is increasing the requirements for minority set asides on the projects.

      <![CDATA[It was the RPS Board, and only the RPS Board, that put these projects on hold several months ago, had they not stopped the projects DEAD in their tracks, they would now be so far along in design that the Mayor would never have been able to change the course. The fact is, the projects are barely on the drawing table, thanks only to the RPS Board.

      <![CDATA[I am all for this idea, and any idea that would provide the opportunity to build new schools in Richmond and to renovate the existing schools so that they are at least ADA compliant, but Richmond has money to build and renovate schools right now and the Richmond School Board cannot seem to get the ball moving. The money has been there, and has been available, the City has done more than their part to assist the School Board, but the School Board continues to fail on their end.
