Jason -

Thanks to you and Amy for this article. While closeted individuals continue to exist in Richmond and elsewhere, there is a long history of individuals and organizations celebrating Gay Pride and actively fighting for their rights.

      Jason

Terrific article, but it would have been a great idea to talk about the other organizations that have been "out of closet" for decades notably Richmond Triangle Players, the only full-time LGBT theater in the entire mid-Atlantic region (16 years) and Equality Virginia, the statewide advocacy organization based here (20 years). Together with the newer organizations that have arrived more recently, we create an even larger Richmond "rainbow"!

Thanks!

ROSMY is such a valuable resource in the community. It has literally saved the lives of countless Richmond LGBTQ youth and now is taking on a much more public role to help these kids become success, happy adults (like my partner, a former ROSMY youth).

Also, anonymous, this is from the Fan Free Clinic's Web site in describing the Fun for a Cause event:

"This spectacular event raised $7,500 for Fan Free Clinic but it did even more—it accomplished the mission of lighting the torch for community togetherness. This extraordinary event was planned and implemented by a dedicated group of individuals in an effort to bring Richmond's gay community together for a common cause.
