<![CDATA[paul - The only failures restaurants have suffered as a result of this law (that I am aware of anyway), are the ones that do not have indoor provisions for smokers. Those establishments have all failed to get one dime from me. Not to worry though, there are many non-smokers that will take my place in the non-smoking only restaurants.

<![CDATA[I'd be curious to know about the restaurants Glen refers to that are failing because of the smoking ban. In my experience so far (and according to friends who work in bars and restaurants), business is up since the ban.

<![CDATA[All I wanted to do, Glen, was make sure you realize that this smoking ban in restaurants is far more than a whim of the non-smokers in society. There is a sound medical and economic basis for it.

<![CDATA[Fourth Estate Fan - The "equal rights" I am speaking of are the right of restaurant owners to allow smoking in their establishments and the right of patrons to choose to visit places that offer that right. No, I do not think it is okay to drink and drive, but I would also not support a law that prevents restaurants and bars from serving alcohol.

<![CDATA[Glen, I can appreciate your position that business owners should have the right to decide whether to offer a smoking or non-smoking section in their restaurants. Can you appreciate that in so doing, the business owner is actually allowing other patrons and employees to be exposed to substance(s) known to be carcinogenic?
