Re: “Updated: Food Truck Fee Will Go To Redskins

What kind of people go see roided up grown men playing for a racially insensitive named team kill each other over an inflatable ball in the dog days of summer? I hope Affle House has a truck.

Re: “On Track

The people taking the trains are commuters desperate to get home to their suburban abodes... and broke people. People that ride busses, mega or mini, are also broke. Neither of them are looking to spend money on over-priced Cuban food in the bottom, or shop at the 2 stalls selling wigs and used shoes at the "17th street market" the Bottom needs stuff. They need light rail/trolley (it's too removed from the other portions of the city and the bus stigma is a proven obstacle) and more high-profile destinations. How about a stadium, Bass Pro, city-market, museum, and breweries? Richmond isn't an easy city to traverse. The disjointed city has too many obstacles right now. Where do you go after you take in the 4 blocks of Cary Street? Your car, then you head to the bottom and realize there ain't much there, then you climb up to Church Hill, have a pie, and a Rooseveltian cocktail careful to avoid over-walking into the hood (just pay attention to the litter-the more it increases the more you are straying). Wait, don't forget Rockett's way over there....they have a Conch Republic... and something else. Might as well head to Main Street VCU area, by car, from there, you could walk to VMFA... but with that being the only significant destination, why bother? Don't forget first fridays where you can enjoy gourmet popsicles while stocking up on primitive art. Richmond thinks its salvation lies in quickly turning restaurants. People think because they opened a taco shop or noodle bar or southern-fried restaurant that they're going to turn things around. This fad, too, shall pass. It's not going to work alone. I'd put more money on the Libby & Grove area really taking off than the bottom. It's safe, they have a solid neighborhood mixed-use/TND core with discretionary income, and are hipster free. The Bottom panders to young transitory types and will never have that core demographic of families that make successful neighborhoods. They have lofts and restaurants. They need more people and preferably families that want to stay there.

Re: “On Track

If the bottom gets nice enough parents (two parent families) will move in, parents who actually get involved in their kids schooling, upbringing, and nurturing. Only this will make Richmond City Schools better; responsible parents who give a sh*t.

Re: “Game Plan

San Diego, a formerly 9-5 city, benefitted from a stadium in the city's core, regrettably, nobody is going to go to a -5A Little League game in 90 weather in an urban heat-sink. Instead, the city should try to build a velodrome where we can watch bearded hipster p*ssys die from heat-stroke on their monochromatic fixies.

Re: “Short Order

Can't wait to dine al fresco at a f***ing mall, wait, no, it's a strip-mall attached to a mall next to a Lazer Tag... ugh!

Re: “On Track

Go to Richmond International and I'll show you the best airport in the world... because it's so easy, 'cause it's empty! RIC is f'ing dead! LMAO. People love RIC cause there ain't no lines nowhere.

Henrico is full of commuter traffic. They take the trains to commute, not to visit O'Charlie's. Nobody sticks around and eats at Chipothole, or comes to visit the extraordinary shops at Willow Lawn.

And yes, for any person from a city with bona fides... Richmond offers little. You can slap as many RVA stickers on your Subaru econobox as you like, but a fact is a fact.
