Re: “Face Value

@Anonymous: What standard? There are a few really top notch restaurants around Richmond. Rappahannock, Magpie, and and Roosevelt are really the only ones that stand out to me. I think Society's food needs fine tuning too, but they're a hell of a lot better than a lot of the places Richmond typically congregates and circle jerks at. Maybe if their chef threw some pimiento cheese or was in with the cool kids in Richmond, the food would be good? Never mind the facts...that the kid cures his own meats and doesn't rely on sausage craft or Oli to supply the charcuterie plates like some of Richmond's "standards." I make it a point to check out many of these restaurants often..and I'd put Society's food up there. If you think the night life scene is the worthwhile aspect of that place, I'd question your palate. That seems more like a chicken nuggets by day, crappy sushi by night crowd.

Re: “Face Value

This is the most unfocussed and disjointed review I've ever read. Were you reviewing a restaurant or a night club? I don't think you even know. All thoughts about the food aside, if you didn't like it...that's your prerogative, but to pretty much blast a place in a public forum about ABC laws is a bit below the belt, and slightly amateur.

I've read a lot of asinine reviews in Style over the years, but this one is laughable. I share the opposite attitude. I dislike the night club vibe, but find the food to be pretty darn good personally. Next time this place gets a review, hopefully they'll get someone who actually has a clue what they're actually trying to focus on. It seems like all you tried to do was stir the pot. This is probably why you got fired from Richmond magazine? I don't know...also, what do I know? I'm not a culinary employee or a "food writer." My opinion means nothing.
