You cannot simultaneously increase liberty and security. They are inversely proportional. Always.

At first I say repeal the Patriot Act - because truly it's the root of all this - that's what started the trampling of rights.

But on the other hand - new technology brings new rules. These things work very different in the Information Age. The fact is they don't have to do anything special to access anything you transmit at all.

And wouldn't we call them negligent if they weren't recording these things? Like if we couldn't figure out when somebody wrote "hey I'm gonna plant a bomb" (look at the context - this is not a threat good NSA analyst reading this :) don't you think we'd say they shoulda had means to detect that? And if they can't put their ear to the ground how can hey hear the train rumbling?

I don't agree with the secrecy on this matter - it should have been public knowledge on the first place.

But the Information Age is changing everything. Quite literally the sentient (and flawed) AI God is being built before us. It will comprehend every single electronic communication simultaneously.

Hold onto your butts and keep up the fight.
