Re: “Southern Season to Close

I agree 100% with the sentiment of the article. While SS offered many specialty items (holiday candy and bbq sauce come to mind), their staple grocery items were few and expensive. I actually really enjoyed the store but never found myself going that often due to price constraints. It didn't help that the restaurant was a flop.

I'll second the TJ's location, though it is much larger than the footprint they seem to prefer.

Re: “Architecture Review: The VCU Children’s Pavilion Looms Over East Broad Street

There is new and there is old, let us move on with the times. Not a fan of the rusty cage, but it is visually interesting and downtown needs all the parking they can get right now.

Re: “Early Bird Biscuit Co. Opens in the Fan

I second the motion to stay in Lakeside and open an additional location in the fan! Keep up the great work.

Re: “Permanent Pop-Up

Sorry, balliceaux was a cocktail destination. It brought upon the bee's knees renaissance. Can't wait to try Shoryuken!

Re: “GlobeHopper Coffeehouse and Lounge to Close

We moved to the bottom shortly after they opened and GH provided the comfiest study spot in the area, not to mention great coffee. I cannot say we have visited as much as we should after moving neighborhoods, but I will forever miss those sun filled windows curled up with a boring textbook and a tall french press by my side. We'll miss the GlobeHopper experience.

Re: “The Great Divide

Wow! much like flowery superb reviews should be digested with a grain of salt, terrible apocalyptic reviews should be treated the same. I found my visit to the Divide to be perfectly acceptable.

The food was hot and tasty while the service was unquestionably adequate, if not downright prompt and attentive! The server even approached our table as happy hour was ending to get our final discounted drink order. I too find it very difficult to believe that a complaint was offered to the staff and then gone unaddressed (unless you were a huge a-hole to begin with, then all bets are off).

I will say that we'll be back for the beef tacos, the shredded brisket is phenomenal. I tried the Santa Fe enchilada and will admit it tastes better on the menu, but that can be said of so many establishments (the pumpkin muffin is an odd choice too, but i like the spirit of outside-the-box thinking).

If you enjoy mexican dining, give it a try. I cannot imagine how this reviewer's experience was so drastically different from my own and other commenters.
