Re: “Speed Dreaming

Yeah, I have to say that some of the reactions to Mr. Griset's speculations are a little reactionary and self-indulgent. I never once felt that he was doing anything other than speculating against a very specific contextual backdrop. If you're going to go specific with one thing and then claim 'color-blind casting' in the same breath, then you have to be prepared for audiences to make associations. It happens. And it's one of the great things about theatre. Why would you punish someone for trying to make sense of a world that offers up suggestive and/or conflicting imagery? Get over yourself Foster and Todd. Yeah, we get it. You're morally outraged at Mr Griset's racial insensitivity. Do you think perhaps you're missing the larger conversation here? Context is everything.

Re: “Deejay Gray, 25

Ha. OK, "James Bowden". How brave of you to post your name and then attack people who defend Deejay. Very mature indeed. You are clearly not a theatre professional otherwise how would you know this guy's social media behavior? Or is your name just not James Bowden?
While we're on the topic, I am actually pretty sure I know who you are... I also know that you are a sad, mixed up individual who has taken it upon himself to slag this guy off because you had feelings for him which were disappointed. Ad hominem attacks on Deejay as a way to exercise your messed up emotional past is, in fact, childish behavior. It's also a pretty ridiculous way to try and 'get back' at someone.
Deejay deserves every bit of this recognition. He is making theatre happen and is supported by a community of professional artists who support his ideas. He also is generous, creative and thoughtful. This season he has attracted some of Richmond's best theatre artists who are happy to work for his small company despite not having large sums of cash to offer like the larger companies. This is a testament to his reputation as a professional and an individual. He also has a terrific business partner in Annie Colpitts, another hugely respected member of the theatre community.
I suggest you refrain from pretending to be in some way superior in moral fiber to this person because you are a fiery-hot hypocrite. I think that it is infinitely amusing that you have chosen social media to relentlessly attack Deejay after attacking his social media behavior and then brag about how brave you are to sign your name. OK, then 'James Bowden', proud pillar of the theatre community. Let me leave you with some advice: If you spent HALF the energy you spend on bashing Deejay (online and off) you might actually be able to make something creative and garner some recognition yourself. Right now you just look like an ass.

I am looking forward to attending all of TheatreLabs productions this year!

Re: “Caesarian Perfection

This was one of the most creative and well executed pieces of theatre I've seen all year! Highly recommended!
