Re: “Driving Off Deep End”
Because of the weight of hybrid vehicles it stands to reason that they cause the same amount of wear and tear on public roads as non hybrid vehicles but due to increases fuel economy their owners pay much less in state and federal gas taxes. Taxes that are necessary for the maintenance of the roads we all use. Doesn't seem like a fair share is being paid. With the increasing number of hybrid vehicles and the rise of fuel economy levels at the federal level, I would ask whether it is not time to eliminate the gas tax and/or find a new source of funding for our transportation needs.
