UPDATE: Despite continued correspondence with the Firehouse Theatre Project’s Board leadership and a request by a Board member that it be placed on the agenda for its February meeting, there is still no confirmation that the proposal for resolution of the situation offered on January 24 by members of the Richmond theatre community will, in fact, be heard by the full Board. Members of the public interested in seeing a positive resolution of this situation are encouraged to contact members of the FTP Board’s executive committee and request that they allow presentation of this proposal to the full Board.

Re: “Burning Down the House”
Some individuals who have not seen the specifics of the current proposal to the FTP Board being put forward by four members of the Richmond theatre community are having difficulty deciding what action they should take personally concerning it.
I, too, have not seen the proposal, and I may or may not agree with every detail of it. That, however, does not prevent me from simply and strongly advocating that the FTP Board's executive committee allow the full FTP Board to hear and consider that proposal, and any other relevant and competent outside input, in a transparent way subject to confirmation and rebuttal. Insisting on this vital first step does not commit me to the contents of any specific proposal, which would then, along with counter-proposals, become available for my consideration of support or nonsupport before any final actions were taken.
Further, in the event that the FTP Executive Committee does not allow the current proposal offered to it to be heard, continues to block the sharing of information with those concerned about the future of FTP, including other members of their own board, and continues to operate under a false guise of "privacy" while simultaneously attempting to spread innuendo and divide the Richmond theatre community through one-on-one conversations, I will continue to advocate against that and identify publicly when it occurs.
I hope that this helps others decide what is best for them to do as individuals, enabling them to maintain their integrity and strong, unwavering support for preservation and continued successful achievement of the founders' mission for FTP and for honest and transparent governance at FTP and all other arts and cultural nonprofit organizations.
