Re: “2012 Richmonders of the Year: Women's Rights Activists”
The outrage over transvaginal ultrasounds prior to a sought-after abortion truly perplexes me. The surgical act of abortion is clearly the most "invasive" in this trilogy of invasive acts.
The first invasive act of course being the insertion of a penis into the vagina during intercourse. The second invasive act being labeled a violation of civil rights is the transvaginal ultrasound...which is not much more invasive than the partner that aided in conception ( unless of course his nickname is the "S.S. Minnow" ) Transvaginal ultrasounds are quite often used as a diagnostic tool and rightly so to establish "fetal pole" which will generally present at the 6 week mark post-conception. The 6 week mark is the earliest at which an abortion is performed and most clinics require weeks later an additional ultrasound when abortions are performed so early to ensure that contents of conception do not remain .
If women would merely EDUCATE and EMPOWER themselves and each other this would not be such an issue in the political ring. I blame both parties for tossing womens rights and LGBT rights in the political ring.
MIND YOUR VAGINA LADIES! Be MINDFUL of what you place or allow in it...PROTECT yourselves!
Sorry Style...but this is not a worthy title or cover story...
