Re: “Sturm und Durang

You seemed to have missed the part in Vanya's monologue where he speaks of Tommy Kirk, who was fired by Walt Disney for being gay. And how hurt Vanya was by that, because he is also a gay man. Vanya actually mentions this(his sexual orientation) several times in the show. It is also mentioned that I am an ADOPTED sibling. And I don't know how idle rich we truly are as we (Vanya and Sonia) just recently spent approximately 15 years taking care of two parents with Alzheimer's. Or were you not listening when THAT was mentioned more than once?
Vanya, does not just miss talking for hours on end, but he misses people writing letters, and actually sitting down and being TOGETHER. The actual, tangible experience of human contact. Letters were once a great substitute for that. So was conversation.
Vanya wasn't mad at 20 somethings, he was mad at SPIKE, mad at CHANGE, and most of all frightened and sad.
But you were too busy taking it personally to just experience, or try to experience that. And for that, I am sorry.

Re: “LETTER: Different Opinions on Same-Sex Marriage

"men taking a mother from a baby" ??? Can you be a little more clear? You paint a picture of gay men snatching infants from the arms of weeping mothers who WANT their children. Lady, please. I am SO tired of protecting the unborn children, and neglecting all the children already here that no one wants. And then, THEN, when loving responsible people want to give them a home, love, stability, nurturing, we have to peek inside their bedrooms--which by the way I'm sure YOU would not appreciate Brenda. Why, because it's none of my business how you decide to um, have "relations" with your husband. I say husband because I'm sure that you are the perfect, upstanding perfect heterosexual. NORMAL, as YOU see it.
I will give you the fact that yes, some babies are "purchased." From WILLING surrogates. But you have no issues about women who make a living off of renting out their uteruses. Nor do I, but it's interesting all the same.
Also, many a child is raised by a single parent. One. Parent. A lot of them thrive, some of don't. Your argument is basically crap. You really, truly, do have a problem with love, even though at the beginning or your letter you say "no one objects to love." I think your pants are on fire Brenda.
Basically, I don't understand you at all. But what I do understand, quite clearly is that you are very small minded. Is it possible that kids raised by gay couples might end up screwed up? Sure! Just like every other kid born to heterosexual couples. Raising kids is a gamble for anyone who makes the choice to have them. You love them, protect them, guide them, and hope and pray for the best.
I pity you. And everyone like you.
