Re: “Letter: In Firehouse Controversy, Time to Come Together

"There are no words" might stop to consider that the reason the FTP board and staff have refrained from "on the record" negative remarks is because they are following legal advice concerning the elements of a lawsuit for slander. This however has not prevented a rash of ridiculous accusations "off the record."

Ms Dwyer:

When something "horrifies" me, I quit reading it or go get my smelling salts... As for what went on in the FTP board meetings, only the people who attended know and since you weren't there, perhaps you know not whereof you speak.... As for "allegations of bullying" I think you misunderstood Georgeann's remarks.

I for one am glad they did and I don't find it "sad" at all.
I applaud anyone who is willing to point out the opportunity for a serious reality check.

Re: “Letter: In Firehouse Controversy, Time to Come Together

Ms. Dray: You sound kinda "tier one-ish " to me and full of complete and total baloney! "Bully pulpit" my foot. Mr. Timberline wrote a clear and succinct summation of what's gone on at the hands of board members at the FTP whose egos and arrogance outweigh their respect for the community they are supposed to SERVE. Furthermore, the likes of the Holmes/Kennedy/Mallory troika have no no compunction about repetitive lying to that same community in order to justify their unconscionable and shameful behavior toward Carol Piersol. "IMAGINARY" divide? Not on your life!! Thank goodness there are so many people willing to cross that very REAL divide in order to stand up for common decency and integrity.

Re: “The Hose Down

One thing for certain --- before any other not for profit organization considers inviting Kay Holmes or Jo Kennedy to join it, there should be a very candid open discussion as to how well these women as leaders handle the public's trust and whether the bylaws protect against hostile takeovers.

Re: “The Hose Down

I don't know what constitutes the most successful combination of personalities for a not for profit board and keep wondering if there isn't an inherent conflict of interest if the majority of members are from the business/corporate world. Of course, there is an obvious need for members who are financially savvy and/or influential but for the most part they are not naturally clued into artistic sensibilities and the same kind of creativity. Until the board members are comprised of 49% financial folks and 51% artists, isn't there always going to be the possibility of losing the artistic vision and/or coldly
ousting the founders of it when it suits their fancy?

Re: “Hit, Run and Learn

As somebody else who lives in The Fan and who has also
negotiated numerous Wrongful Death claims with families of cycling victims, I cannot tell you how upset it makes me to see so many bike riders who seem completely oblivious to their need for reflective clothing, helmets, lights and other safety measures. I wish somebody with the cycling association would start a BIG, LOUD, SAFETY Campaign in this city because you need one. Putting so much emphasis on the auto drivers' responsibility to watch out for cyclists, doesn't help one bit if they CAN'T SEE them!! And any rider who thinks one little red reflector on the back of a bike is all you need, doesn't realize how many people have limited vision in the darkness. Please, please, please, bike riders, take your safety SERIOUSLY.Please stop wearing all dark clothing at night for starters and get as much reflective gear as possible. GLOW in the dark...
