The discourse (perhaps too civilized a term) between the police and groups like Karn's is far too similar to the discourse between political parties. Isn't it possible that large portions of the knowledge contained on that drive should be ubiquitous, but that certain document's are sensitive, and that their decimation does not benefit the public good, and poses a danger to either individual cops or investigations? If only there was civil discourse here. Perhaps the secretive nature of the police could be balanced by a selective exposure of information that was unjustly hidden, rather than a scorched earth campaign were the police want to share nothing, and the Karns of the world want to expose everything. Not knowing how to fundamentally alter the entrenched positions of activists or those they attempt to keep in line, I offer no practical solution. I merely like to dream of a world where people don't view reality through a lens of their chosen affiliation. la la la.
