What the police don't want the public to know is they're giving the Special Investigations Department over $120,000 of tax payers money annually to buy drugs with. Read it and interpret it for yourself:
DATE: March 21, 2012
TO: Chief Bryan T. Norwood
Chief of Police
THRU: Deputy Chief John Buturla
Support Services Division
Major Steve Drew
Support Services Division
FROM: A/Captain Marty Harrison, IV
Special Investigations Division
SUBJECT: SID Buy Fund Disbursement
ISSUE:
Request for disbursement form the SID buy fund.
DISCUSSION:
SID is requesting $30,000.00 of buy money from the Investigative Fund. The buy money is utilized to further narcotics and gang investigations which impact violent and property crimes in the city. The money pays for narcotics and gang investigations, to include the purchase of narcotics, payment of informants for investigative operations, court appearances, information pertinent to arrest and current investigations
The tactical Assistance Unit uses SID buy funds to purchase minor supplies necessary for maintaining the functionality of vital equipment used on all narcotic and gang investigations. The buy fund also supplies monies to the Precinct’s Focus Mission Teams for investigations relative to narcotics complaints.
CONCLUSION:
I respectfully request that $30,000.00 from the SID buy fund account be disbursed to SID as soon as possible, that our investigations may continue without interruption.
